The College of Charleston is the preseason pick of both Southern Conference coaches and media to win the league title this season, according to polls released today.
Rakar, Talley selected
College of Charleston's Cole Rakar and The Citadel's Matt Talley are SoCon coaches' projections as player and pitcher of the year, respectively, in the Southern Conference. They also headline the coaches' preseason all-conference team.
Easley's Black among key players for Kentucky
Easley High grad and former Spartanburg Methodist College player Taylor Black, a senior shortstop, is expected to be a key player for Kentucky this season, coach Gary Henderson tells College Baseball Daily.
USC has scrimmages
South Carolina has scrimmages at 3:30 p.m. Friday and at 1:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Carolina Stadium. The Gamecocks open the regular season Feb. 18 against Santa Clara.
