Wilhelm elected to Hall of Fame
Former Clemson coach Bill Wilhelm today was announced as part of the 2011 class of inductees into the National College Baseball Foundation's Hall of Fame. Wilhelm, who died Dec. 24, won 1,161 games in 36 seasons at Clemson and never had a losing season. The Tigers made six trips to the College World Series, including his first two seasons there. Other selections were Terry Francona (Arizona), Dick Groat (Duke), Oddibe McDowell (Arizona State) and Tim Wallach (Cal State Fullerton). A committee formed to recognize players and coaches at Historically Black Colleges and University prior to 1975 voted former Grambling coach and ex-Southern University player Danny Goodwin to the Hall of Fame, which is located in Lubbock, Texas.

Furman's Wood honored
Furman freshman Tyler Wood, who allowed one hit over eight innings against Ohio in his college debut, today was named Southern Conference pitcher of the week. Wood took a perfect game into the sixth inning of the 7-0 victory, which completed a four-game sweep of Ohio.
