Just hours after he pitched a complete game to extend South Carolina's stay at the College World Series, Greer native Michael Roth was named first-team all-American as part of the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.
Clemson's Phil Pohl also made the first team. Florida State's James Ramsey took the top honor.
According to the Award's website, the award is chosen by a nationwide vote of Division I baseball head coaches, media and fans. It is given annually to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in NCAA Division I baseball.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.
Roth pitched a two-hit complete game as the Gamecocks beat Kent State, 4-1.
