Black wins USC series opener
Freshman George Iskenderian hit a walkoff home run in the seventh inning to lift the Black team over the Garnet, 3-2, in Thursday's first game of USC's fall World Series intrasquad games. Games also are set for Friday night and Sunday afternoon.

Holbrook enjoying gig
Chad Holbrook, in his first fall as head coach at USC, posted the following picture of Carolina Stadium on his Twitter account with the caption "I'm in heaven tonight."


Chants set fall series
Coastal Carolina will play its fall World Series this weekend. The Chanticleers will play two seven-inning games on Friday and a single game on Sunday. The schedule has been adjusted because of threats from Hurricane Sandy.

* Speaking of fall World Series, in looking for 2013 schedules I discovered that Louisiana Tech will play SEVEN games. I guess it's really just semantics, since many other schools have game-type scrimmages prior to their final weekends.

* Virginia Commonwealth's 2013 schedule includes an appearance in a tournament at The Citadel.
VCU
* Based on CollegeBaseballInsider.com's compilations, Missouri and South Carolina are the only SEC teams who have yet to announce their 2013 schedule.
