Furman facility taking shape
I interviewed Furman coach Ron Smith Monday for a facilities update story for FurmanPaladins.com. I'll post a link to the story after it's written and posted on that site. Meanwhile, here's some video of the room where the batting cages will be in the $2 million facility. The building also includes locker rooms, coaches offices, public restrooms and other support facilities for the program.

Clemson-USC time changed
CUTigerBaseball has  tweeted that the starting time for the Sunday (March 3) Clemson-USC game in Columbia is now 3 p.m. It had been listed as 1:30 p.m. on USC's schedule but it's been changed there, too. Sounds like someone has picked the game up for TV! Woo-hoo!

RIP, Edythe Bradley
Edythe Bradley, longtime sports information director at Albany State University, died Saturday night of a brain hemorrhage caused by a brain aneurysm. She was 46. I never met Ms. Bradley, but she frequently helped me by providing SIAC scores during the season when Benedict or Claflin played down that way. The comments from folks who knew her indicate that doing her job was a joy for her. Her willingness to help me enforces that.

Excellent, I'd been hoping that at least one of the Clemson-SC games would be televised, and it looks like I'll get my wish!

I have no definite evidence that TV is going to happen, but I think the move to 3 p.m. is a good sign. Might I suggest getting the CBS All-Access package during baseball season. You can either do one team-specific ($9.95 per month) or pay $14.95 per month (February-May, 4 months) and be able to watch dozens of teams. Clemson and USC both were on All-Access last year. You basically get the stadium video board feed of all home games not televised by CSS, SportSouth, etc. If the games are televised, you usually will get the audio feed through All-Access. The link I used last year isn't working right now, but it will probably be available through CBSSports.com. The trick is to remember to cancel the package after the season ends so you aren't charged year-round.
