Izzy Powell's memorial service set for Wednesday in Greenville

A memorial service for Izzy Powell, infant daughter of Landon and Allyson Powell, is set for 6 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Church, 101 W. McBee Street in downtown Greenville. This is where Greenville First Baptist Church and Downtown Baptist Church formerly were located.

Visitation begins at 5 p.m.

The Powells ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made.to DonateLifeSC.org. Izzy was able to be an donor - a heart valve and cartilage - after her brief stay on earth ended last week.

The Powells have been active in the Donate Life organization for years. Landon Powell, a former USC baseball star and current pro player, eventually is expected to need a liver transplant because of health issues.

After interviewing Landon Powell for a story on his fundraising/awareness event in Greenville a couple of years back, I signed up to be an organ donor.

It's easy to do, you won't feel a thing and you may help extend someone else's life.
