Mount Olive is Conference Carolinas pick
Mount Olive is the choice to win the Conference Carolinas championship this season according to a preseason poll of league coaches. Erskine is picked fourth, North Greenville fifth, Limestone sixth and Coker eighth.

Prep coaches release polls
The S.C. Baseball Coaches Association has announced its preseason high school rankings. Lexington leads the AAAA rankings, Wren tops AAA, Bishop England is atop AA and St. Joseph's is first in Class A.

Southern Wesleyan changes logo
Southern Wesleyan, hoping to gain NCAA membership, has released a new logo for its athletic teams. In an attempt to curry favor with the politically correct NCAA, the school has ditched its Native America-themed imagery for Knights of the Round Table-type theme.

Ex-Buc Parnell signs deal with Mets
Former Charleston Southern pitcher Bobby Parnell has signed a one-year, $1.7 million deal with the New York Mets.

Hogs arrested
