Coastal Carolina is No. 5 and College of Charleston No. 19 in College Baseball Daily's preseason poll of mid-major teams. Louisville is No. 1. Also in the rankings are Elon (13), Western Carolina (14) and Mercer (25).

Ever seen a women pitch?
Montreat College, located near Asheville, will play a doubleheader against Bluefield (W. Va.) State at noon Saturday at Stevens Field in Greer. The Cavaliers have a woman pitcher, Martina Sementelli, on their roster. With it being a doubleheader, there could be a chance she could get into one of the games. I saw her pitch an inning against Southern Wesleyan, getting a strikeout and allowing an unearned run.
