Claflin, Benedict players honored
Four players from Claflin and three from Benedict were named to the preseason all-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference baseball team as picked by the SIAC Baseball Coaches Association.. Representing the Panthers are pitcher Darryl White, catcher Julio Iglesias, first baseman Jasper Brown and utility player Donald Smith. Benedict's honorees were first baseman David Weber, infielder Elisha McDaniel and utility player Lydell Moseby.

ESPN sets TV schedule
CollegeBaseballDaily.com reports ESPN has announced its 151-game schedule of college baseball games over its cable and Internet channels for 2013. Clemson has 12 broadcasts, Coastal Carolina 6, USC 4, Presbyterian 3 and Charleston Southern and Winthrop 1 apiece.

Spartans' rival loses star player
Florida Gulf Coast University, one of USC Upstate's rivals in the Atlantic Sun Conference, has lost center fielder and closer Brady Anderson for the season  to ACL and meniscus tears in his left knee, The Naples Daily News reports.
