Sanders gets 1,000th career victory
Sorry I'm a little late on this: Beauford Sanders, a Woodruff native, picked up the 1,000th victory over his college baseball coaching career March 22 for Campbellsville (Ky.) University. Sanders was the coach at North Greenville before taking the job out of state.

Sanders, who won 268 games at North Greenville, has taken his team to the postseason 13 of the past 14 years. The Tigers finished third in the National Christian College Athletic Association World Series last year..

Sanders is the cousin of Steve Sanders, the former Spartanburg Herald-Journal sportswriter for whom the Spartanburg County high school baseball tournament is named.

Briefly
* Furman's Hunter Burton continues to lead NCAA Division I in stolen bases. He has 27.
* Benedict is on pace to lead NCAA Division II in stolen bases for the seventh straight season. NCAA statistics show the Tigers have 185 steals in 33 games. They have a 17-21 record, so there are five games worth of stats not included.
