Tide loses Sunday starter for USC series

Al.com and other news outlets in Alabama report Crimson Tide baseball coach Mitch Gaspard has suspended Sunday starting pitcher Jon Keller for this weekend's series at South Carolina because of a violation of team rules.

No replacement has been named for Keller, who is expected to be reinstated on Monday.

Keller (5-1) has pitched 60 1/3 innings this season and has Alabama's only complete game. He has a 5-1 record, a 1.94 ERA, 44 strikeouts and 12 walks.

Alabama is in first place in the SEC West and shares the best conference record with SEC East leader Florida at 12-6. USC is 10-8 in conference play entering the weekend.
