Crusaders hire Powell as head coach

North Greenville University today announced the hiring of Landon Powell as its head baseball coach.

He replaces Reggie Reynolds, who left after three seasons.

Powell, a member of three College World Series teams as a player at the University of South Carolina, has been serving as an assistant coach at Furman.

The Apex, N.C., native played 123 games for the Oakland A's over three seasons, batting.207 with 10 home runs. He caught a perfect game pitched by Dallas Braden four years ago today, May 9, 2010.
