The Lexington County Recreation & Aging Commission and Lexington County are providing a venue for northern baseball teams looking for more favorable weather. The Commission is hosting games at Lexington High School and the Lexington Sports Complex this weekend.
Some Saturday games are being played at Riley Park in Sumter.
Appalachian State and Canisius played in Lexington County last weekend, but I didn't see the information in time to promote it here.
A release from the Commission states the tournaments are "to showcase future opportunities at the Lexington County Stadium, slated to open May 2015. The Commission is working to bring College teams to Lexington during the months of February, March and April. The Stadium will also be home to the Lexington County Blowfish starting May 27, 2015."
The Blowfish moved from Capital City Stadium in Columbia.
