North Greenville was coming off an 8-35 season when it hired Landon Powell as its head coach 51 weeks ago.
In the course of one year the former University of South Carolina player has re-energized the Crusaders program.
North Greenville played only one game this past week, but it was a memorable one. The Crusaders beat Pfeiffer, 10-4, to complete a four-game sweep to the Conference Carolinas Tournament title.
The win earned the Crusaders a spot in the NCAA Division II Tournament this month. It was their 29th win of the season - an almost unheard of 21-game improvement in victories from one season to the next.
