Palmetto State Baseball team of the week, Feb. 29-March 6: North Greenville

North Greenville (6-0 for the week)
(went 1-0 vs. Brevard, Montreat and Saginaw Valley; went 3-0 at Southern Wesleyan)

After winning the Conference Carolinas Tournament and bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament last season, there was plenty of optimism around the North Greenville program.

The Crusaders had a challenging start to the season and lost of of three games against Lander. Seven games into the season NGU had a 2-5 record.

Things have turned around since then. The Crusaders scored 40 runs in a three-game weekend sweep of Southern Wesleyan.  The good weekend stretched North Greenville's winning streak to 11 games.

One of the big guns during the successful stretch has been David Houser, a transfer from Tennessee. He's hitting .500 (12-for-24) with 11 runs,6 homers and 17 RBIs over the last seven games.

Another big week awaits coach Landon Powell's squad. There's a Monday visit to Anderson, a Wednesday home game vs. Newberry and a weekend home series against Conference Carolinas power Mount Olive.
