Palmetto State Baseball team of the week, March 14-20; (tie) Clemson, South Carolina

Clemson (5-0 for the week)
(Went 2-0 at The Citadel; went 3-0 vs. Boston College)

South Carolina (5-0 for the week)
(Beat USC Upstate; beat Davidson; went 3-0 vs. Arkansas)

Yeah, it's a copout to pick a tie, but I didn't see an easy tiebreaker and both teams deserved the honor.

Clemson (16-3) and South Carolina (20-2) continued their torrid starts by going 5-0 this week.

The Tigers began their week with a sweep of The Citadel in their first road trip to play the Bulldogs since 1990. After winning the first two games of the weekend ACC series with Boston College, Clemson trailed 2-1 entering the ninth inning. The Tigers scored to force extra innings, then won when freshman sensation Seth Beer homered in the 10th. It was his ninth home run of the season.

South Carolina dispatched USC Upstate and Davidson in midweek, then beat Arkansas in the first two games of the opening SEC series.  The Gamecocks fell behind 5-1 on Sunday, but rallied for a 8-6 win when John Jones hit a three-run homer in the bottom of eighth.
