Because next Sunday is Easter, many state schools have adjusted their weekend schedules to allow players and staff to observe the holiday (holy day).
This Thursday's schedule is packed. The only other Thursday to come close to being as busy is the final weekend of the regular season for NCAA Division I teams, when league play ends on Saturday so teams can better line up their pitching staffs for conference tournaments.
* State rivalries are contested on Tuesday when Anderson is at Erskine, Coastal Carolina is at College of Charleston, Presbyterian plays at Clemson, The Citadel is at USC Upstate and Voorhees is at Morris.
* Lander visits Anderson on Wednesday.
* Southern Conference play begins on Thursday when Wofford is at Mercer and Furman plays host to Samford. The Citadel-VMI series remains a Friday-Sunday setup.
* In Big South Conference series, Charleston Southern entertains Campbell, Winthrop is at High Point and Presbyterian travels to Gardner-Webb. Coastal Carolina, which opened league play last week at Longwood, steps out of conference to face Stetson.
* Both Clemson and South Carolina, coming off home sweeps in conference, face road challenges in conference play. The Tigers are at ACC foe Miami (Friday-Sunday), while South Carolina is at SEC rival Mississippi (Thursday-Saturday).
* College of Charleston has its CAA opening series at home against Delaware.
* NJCAA Region 10 doubleheaders are on Friday and Saturday this week. One of the top matchups should be USC Lancaster at Spartanburg Methodist.
