State schedule, March 24-26

* Clemson plays its first ACC road series of the season, but its opponent, Boston College, also will be playing away from its home field.  The three-game series will be played at the University of Rhode Island because of poor field conditions at BC's home stadium.

* South Carolina, winner of eight straight games, plays host to Alabama in its first SEC home series of the season.

* Furman and Wofford meet in a three-game series in Spartanburg and The Citadel plays host to VMI as Southern Conference play begins.

* Coastal Carolina plays its first home series against Sun Belt Conference competition, with Arkansas State the opponent.

* Presbyterian begins Big South Conference play with a home series against UNC Asheville.

* North Greenville faces an important series in its bid for the Conference Carolinas regular-season title. First place and nationally ranked Mount Olive (12-0 conference) plays host to the Crusaders (9-3 CC) for a game on Friday and two on Saturday. Second-place Erskine (11-1) is at last-place King and could move into first place if Mount Olive stumbles.

* There are two other meetings of state and conference rivals: Limestone is at Southern Wesleyan in Conference Carolinas and Lander is at USC Aiken in the Peach Belt.

* Claflin's SIAC series with Morehouse is being played in the Charleston area. Friday and Sunday games will be played at Collins Park in North Charleston, with the Saturday game at West Ashley High School.

* NJCAA Region 10 has six teams (down from eight in 2016) competing in Division I this year.  League play begins with USC Lancaster playing at Darlington, USC Salkehatchie visting USC Sumter and Louisburg going to Spartanburg Methodist.
