Clemson, Coastal named regional hosts

Clemson and Coastal Carolina were among 16 schools named Sunday night as regional hosts for the 2018 NCAA Baseball Tournament.

The top eight national seeds and the pairings for the 16 four-team regionals will be announced around midday Monday. South Carolina is among the teams expected to be among the teams awarded one of 33 at-large bids.

Clemson,  which tied the the ACC regular season title and was ranked in the top 10 over much of the final month of the season, is likely under consideration for one of the national seeds. If the Tigers are awarded a national seed, they would host a super regional the second weekend in June if they survive their regional.

Coastal Carolina took the Sun Belt Conference's automatic berth by winning the league tournament.

Joining Clemson and Coastal as hosts are Arkansas, East Carolina, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Minnesota, Mississippi, N.C. State, North Carolina, Oregon State, Stanford, Stetson, Texas and Texas Tech.

Four ACC teams and four SEC teams were awarded regionals. Three regionals are set for Florida and North Carolina, with two each in South Carolina and Texas.

Four regionals begin this Friday, with the other four beginning on Saturday.
