Clemson and Coastal Carolina learned their regional opponents and South Carolina found out it was being sent to East Carolina on Monday during the NCAA Baseball Selection Show.
Clemon (45-14) was named the 10th overall national seed. The Tigers will play regional No. 4 seed Morehead State (37-24) in one first-round game at 6 p.m. Friday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. No. 2 seed Vanderbilt (31-25), coached by former Presbyterian head coach and Clemson assistant Tim Corbin, faces St. John's (39-15), the third seed, at noon.
The winner of Clemson's regional will face the winner of the Tallahassee regional, where No. 7 national seed Florida State is the top seed.
Coastal Carolina (42-17) will play No. 4 LIU Brooklyn (31-24) at 6 p.m. Friday to open its regional at Springs Brooks Stadium in Conway. No. 2 Connecticut (35-20-1) and No. 3 Washington (30-23) complete the field and play at noon
The Conway regional winner meets the winner of the regional hosted by No. 2 national seed Stanford.
South Carolina (33-24) was one of 10 SEC teams included in the 64-team field. As the No. 2 seed in Greenville, N.C., the Gamecocks will play Ohio State (36-22) at 2 p.m. Friday on ESPN2 in the first round. Host East Carolina (43-16), the No. 12 national seed, meets No. 4 UNC Wilmington at 7 p.m. in the other first-round game.
The winner of the Greenville regional faces the winner of the regional hosted by No. 5 seed Arkansas.
All regionals will begin on Friday instead of a staggered Friday-Saturday start as in the past. TV plans will be announced later, although all games likely will be on some platform of ESPN's networks.
