North Greenville entered the season ranked in most NCAA Division II polls and promptly lost two games to ranked teams in a tournament in Florida.

Coach Landon Powell's team didn't let the tough losses linger, sweeping Newberry in a three-game series to open its home schedule. A highlight was Jeffrey Chandler's walk-off homer in a 7-5 victory in Saturday's opener.

The challenging schedule continues this week. After a Tuesday home game against longtime rival Anderson, the Crusaders play host to Nova Southeastern next weekend in another series pairing nationally ranked teams.
