USC Beaufort feasted on Paine pitching for a doubleheader sweep in Hardeeville on Wednesday. The Sand Sharks (4-1) won the opener, 22-4, and took Game 2, 15-0.
Paine (0-5) scored two runs in the top of the first of the opener, but Beaufort responded with eight runs in the bottom of the inning.
Sixteen players contributed to USCB's 19-hit attack in the opener. Bragg Eastin, Fremy Rosso and Jack Slavin had two hits apiece.
Chris Hitchman, Harrison Bell and Blake McCollum combined for a two-hit shutout in the second. game. Cole Hamilton had three hits.
Elsewhere:
* East Georgia scored 11 runs over the final three innings to blow past Spartanburg Methodist, 14-9, in the opener of a doubleheader at Mooneyham Field. The visiting Bobcats also took the night game, 8-2.
Kane Fisher's three-run homer capped a four-run third as the Pioneers went up, 5-3, in the opener. But Jared Hart had five hits and drove in five runs as East Georgia rallied, scoring three runs in the fifth, four in the sixth and four in the seventh.
SMC (3-2) had seven extra-base hits, but four errors contributed to five unearned runs.
The Bobcats (2-2) also pulled away late in the nightcap, scoring three runs in the sixth and three in the seventh. SMC's Andrew Krauss had five hits on the day, including a double and a homer in each game.
* Augusta (4-1) scored two runs in the first inning and was never headed in a 14-4 decision over visiting Anderson (3-2). Dillon Carpenter had two singles and a double for the Trojans.
Devin Bilardello had five of Augusta's 23 hits.
