South Carolina earned bragging rights in its baseball series with Clemson for the first time since 2014, taking Sunday's game in Columbia, 14-3, for a 2-1 series win.
T.J. Hopkins had a two-run double and Luke Berryhill added a three-run homer as a five-run first inning helped Carolina (9-2) wipe out an early 1-0 deficit.
Hopkins and Berryhill hit two-run homers in a five-run fourth.
Meanwhile, junior-right-hander Reid Morgan pitched into the seventh for the Gamecocks. USC pitchers walked 12 over the first two games, but didn't walk any on Sunday.
Carolina won the series opener in Clemson Friday night before the Tigers evened things up with a win in Greenville on Saturday.
Hopkins homered in all three games and drove in nine runs. He hit .467.
USC hit .321 for the series while Clemson hit .254. Carolina's pitchers had a 5.33 ERA, while Clemson's was 8.31. Tigers pitchers hit a Gamecock batter six times.
Defense continued to be a problem for the Gamecocks. They committed six errors against Clemson and have 15 in 11 games this season. USC pitchers have thrown 14 wild pitches.
Another negative for Carolina was the loss of Friday night starter Carmen Mlodzinski to a foot injury suffered in Game 1. USC coach Mark Kingston said in his postgame press conference on Sunday that Mlodzinski will be out a minimum of four to six weeks, but offered no information on a possible replacement.
Carolina hit six home runs in the series and Clemson responded with five, giving them 23 and 22 for the season, respectively.
Clemson pitchers have struck out 134 in 98 innings this season while Carolina's hurlers have fanned 120 in 101 innings.
