NJCAA Region 10 announces tournament schedule

USC Lancaster and USC Sumter will play the opening game of the NJCAA Region 10 Division I tournament beginning Friday at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.

All seven teams compete in the double-elimination tournament. Spsartanburg Methodist earned the top seed and a first-round by winning the regular-season championship by percentage points (.722 to .700) over Florence-Darlington Tech.

The tournament champion advances to the Eastern District Tournament in Maryland. The Eastern District Tournament champ goes to the junior college World Series in Grand Junction, Colo.

1. Spartanburg Methodist, 28-16 overall, 13-5 region
2. Florence-Darlington Tech: 39-12 overall, 14-6 region
3. Louisburg: 22-18 overall, 12-8 region
4. USC Lancaster: 29-14 overall, 12-10 region
5. USC Sumter : 25-22 overall, 9-9 region
6. USC Union: 10-18 overall, 6-12 region
7. USC Salkehatchie: 13-38 overall 4-20 region'

The winner of the Region 10 tournament will play at the Region 20 champion in a four-team double elimination tournament May 10-12 for the Eastern District title. Winner of the Eastern District tournament will receive a bid to the JUCO World Series at Sam Suplizio Field in Grand Junction, Colo. May 25-30.
