State players named preseason all-Americans

Three players from South Carolina schools have been selected to D1Baseball.com's first-team preseason all-American squad.,

Catcher Cole Messina and outfielder Ethan Petry of South Carolina and Clemson outfielder Cam Cannarella were deemed first team by the website.

In addition, catcher Caden Bodine of Coastal Carolina, and utility player Cole Mathis of College of Charleston were third-team selections.

Third baseman Billy Amick, who transferred from Clemson to Tennessee after last season, was a second-team choice.

Benedict's Williams cited

Shane Williams of Benedict is on Black College Nines'  list of incoming freshmen of impact at Historically Black College and University baseball teams for the 2024 season. He is a pitcher-infielder from Serrano High School in California. Coach Selwyn Young's Tigers open their season with a Feb. 17 home doubleheader against Lane.
