Palmetto State Baseball team of the week, April 15-21: College of Charleston

College of Charleston (4-0)
(beat Charleston Southern; went 3-0 vs. William & Mary)

The Cougars are one of the hottest teams in the state, extending their winning streak to eight by going 4-0 this week.

Coach Chad Holbrook's club has moved into a first-place tie in the Coastal Athletic Association with with UNCW. The Seahawks went 2-1 against Northeastern over the weekend.

The College got two shutouts against William & Mary, giving it six this season. All three weekend starters have ERAs under 3.00: Jake Brink (2.76), Aidan Hunter (2.91) and Connor Campbell (2.98). The relief pitching has been sharp, too, as the staff ERA is 3.48.

Throw in a .292 team batting average, 54 home runs, 58 steals and 41 double plays on defense and a 28-10 record is certainly an understandable result for such balanced play.
