Tigers lose veteran pitcher

Jason Priester of TheClemsonInsider.com reports Tigers pitcher Casey Tallent is taking medical retirement because of shoulder issues.

Tallent, a redshirt junior from Hartwell, Ga., had 41 strikeouts in 44 1/3 innings in the 2022-23 seasons, but missed 2024 with an injury. He did not pitch this year.

Tigers coach Erik Bakich said in his press conference after the Winthrop game that Tallent will remain with the team. Tallent is the second pitcher the Tigers have lost to injury this season. Earlier this month, it was announced freshman left-hander Dane Moehler would miss this season with a torn UCL. On Tuesday, Moehler posted on a photo on X his account of him in a hospital bed, suggesting his surgery was performed Tuesday
