Wallace retires

Tim Wallace, who won 1,351 games at Spartanburg Methodist College, announced Friday that he would be retiring at the end of season.

“It’s truly been a privilege to lead this program for so long. I’m honored to have had the opportunity to coach so many great players and young men over the course of my career,” Wallace said in a release issued by the school.

Wallace left his dugout duties for an administrative role prior to the start of the season because of health issues, but he said at that time he was given the option of returning as coach if his health allowed. Riley Nelson was named interim head coach at that time.

Wallace has been at SMC 34 seasons and took seven teams to the NJCAA World Series in Grand Junction, Colo.
