Clemson and Coastal Carolina are two of the 16 host schools for the NCAA Division I baseball regionals beginning next weekend.
There are eight SEC teams, three ACC teams, two Sun Belt Conference teams, two Big Ten Conference teams and one independent (Oregon State) serving as hosts.
SEC teams are Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas, Vanderbilt. Joining Clemson from the ACC are Florida State and North Carolina. Oregon and UCLA represent the Big Ten.
Each site will hold a four-team, double-elimination tournament. The 16 regional winners will be paired in eight best-of-three super regionals the following weekend to determine the eight teams for the College World Series in Omaha.
The 64 team field and the top eight national seeds - chosen from the 16 hosts - will be announced Monday. That's when Big South Conference champion USC Upstate (36-23) will learn the destination in its first trip to the NCAA Tournament. Both Clemson and Coastal are believed to be in contention for national seeds.
Clemson (44-16) is making its 47th NCAA Tournament appearance - fifth most in history - and its third consecutive regional host appearance. The Tigers have been regional hosts 19 times since 1980. Arkansas and Clemson are the only teams to be named regional hosts the past three seasons.
Coastal (48-11) enters its 22nd NCAA tournament appearance on an 18-game winning streak. It the Chanticleers; seventh regional host selection and the fourth at at on-campus facility.
