Two four-team double-elimination regionals, one hosted by No. 1 seed Catawba (42-12) and the other hosted by No. 2 seed Belmont Abbey (40-15), will be played next weekend, with the two winners advancing to a best-of-three super regional the following weekend to determine the region's representative in the NCAA Division II College World Series in Cary, N.C.
North Greenville (43-13) was named the fifth seed in the region and will face fellow Conference Carolinas team Young Harris (40-15), the four seed, in a first-round game at 6 p.m. Thursday. The Mountain lions won two of three regular-season meetings with the Trailblazers.
Catawba and Lander (42-13) the eighth seed, meet in the other first-round game at 3 p.m.
Belmont Abbey, which won the Conference Carolinas tournament for an automatic berth, plays No. 7 Carson-Newman (37-17) at 6 p.m. in a first-round game in Belmont, N.C. The other first-round game there will match No. 3 Lenoir-Rhyne (43-12) against No. 6 North Georgia (39-15) at 3 p.m.
