Palmetto State Baseball team of the week, April 28-May 4: Coastal Carolina

Coastal Carolina (4-0 for the week)
(won at UNC Greensboro;  went 3-0 vs. Appalachian State)

When it comes to winning, streaking is still in style in Conway.

The 3-0 weekend against Appalachian State extended the Chanticleers' Sun Belt Conference winning streak to 12 games. There's also a seven-game streak in all games.

But Coastal hasn't been able to build much of a margin in the Sun Belt standings. Southern Miss has won seven straight and eight of nine in the conference and rests just two games back with two weekends of conference play remaining.

Kevin Schnall's first team after moving up replace the retired Gary Gilmore looks like so many of  Gilmore's: production up and down the lineup and lots of good pitching.

First-year pitching coach Matt Williams has a solid weekend rotation of Jacob Morrison, Cameron Flukey and Riley Eikhoff and six relievers with ERAs at 3.86 or lower.

Up next: at home vs. Clemson on Tuesday.
