Bates on preseason team

Benedict catcher Taj Bates was named first-team preseason all-SIAC in voting by Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference head coaches. Bates, a sophomore, hit .309 last season. The Tigers open their season with a Feb. 18 home doubleheader against Miles.

Schedule adjusted

A couple of midweek schedule changes mean there's no college baseball in South Carolina this week until Friday.
* USC Lancaster's scheduled Tuesday home doubleheader with Fayetteville Tech was changed to a single game March 8 in  Fayetteville.
* Erskine's scheduled Thursday home game with Lander will now be part of a Saturday doubleheader at Dolny Stadium in Greenwood.
