Palmetto State Baseball team of the week, Feb. 27-March 5: Wofford

Wofford
(4-0 for the week)
(beat Winthrop; went 3-0 vs. Sacred Heart)

Wofford, the preseason favorite to win the Southern Conference, stumbled out of the gate by losing its season opener to Southern Illinois Feb. 17. That was the last misstep the Terriers have made, as they have won all 10 games since.

The Terriers are batting .306 as a team, with Ryan Galanie (.452) and Brice Martinez (.405) leading the way,  Coach Todd Interdonato also likes to keep pressure on the opponents with derring-do on the basepaths. Wofford already has 38 stolen bases.

Relief pitching has been a key factor, too. While starters have a 5.82 ERA so far, the bullpen is at 3.73.

Up next for the : at Winthrop, Tuesday.
