Francis Marion 15, North Greenville 5, 7 innings - The Patriots continued their recent surge, run-ruling the defending national champions and conference regular-season champs at CaroMont Health Park in Gastonia, N.C.

FMU had a 10-game winning streak, then lost three straight. But coach Art Inabinet's squad has won its last three games, including the first two in the tournament to advance to a 3 p.m. Friday game against Mount Olive. North Greenville, which had a seven-game winning streak snaps, p[lay Belmont Abbey in an elimination game at 11 a.m.

Will Hardee and Charlie Bussey III homered for the Patriots, who scored in five consecutive innings to go up 15-2. Chas DeBruhl pitched into the sixth inning, striking out seven.

John Michael Faile hit his 74th career homer for North Greenville, putting him one away from tying for the NCAA Division II all-time record.
