More players with S.C. ties go on final day of MLB Draft.

Another 15 players with direct connections to the Palmetto State were selected on Tuesday in the final 10 rounds of the Major League Baseball Draft.

South Carolina had two pitchers chosen: James Hicks went to the Astros in the 14th round and Cade Austin went to the Yankees in the 19th round. In addition, USC recruit Raudi Rodriguez went to the Angels in the 19th round.

North Greenville also had two players chosen:  LHP Michael Rodriguez went to the Giants in the 18th round and Vasquez went to Orioles in the 20th round. Vasquez started his career at USC.

Other college players selected were College of Charleston reliever William Privette (Rangers, 13th round) and  Wofford infielder Ryan Galanie (White Sox, 13th round). Galanie recently announced plans to continue his career at Tennessee.

Outfielder Rio Foster of Florence-Darlington Tech was the only state junior college player picked, going to the Angels in the 16th round.

Shortstop John Wimmer of Rock Hill High was the 11th-round pick of the Angeles. He has committed to play for The Citadel.

Fort Mill native Magdiel Cotto, who finished his career at Kentucky after starting at USC, went to the Pirates in the 11th round as the first state pick of the day. He's a left-handed pitcher.

Another Fort Mill native, RHP Mickey Tepper of Liberty University, went to the Nationals in the 15th round. Mann High grad Tomas Fick Frick, a catcher for North Carolina went to Yankees in the 15th round.

The other pick from the state was RHP Danny Flatt of the P27 (baseball) Academy in Lexington. He went to the Yankees in the 14th round.

Clemson did not have any players or recruits selected on Tuesday. Former Tigers quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei, now at Oregon State, was selected by the Dodgers in the 20th round.

Also, Dallas Baptist LHP Bryson Hammer, who was at Clemson in 2021 but took a redshirt season, then transferred to Catawba for 2022, went to the Rockies in the 12th round. His brother Zach is a pitcher in the White Sox organization.
