Game of the day
Coastal Carolina 11, James Madison 10, 13 innings
Chad Born entered the 13th inning of the Sun Belt Conference series finale without a hit in 2024 after hitting .297 as a regular last season.

His two-out, three-run double to left-center capped the Chanticleers' fourth comeback of the game and delivered a series-clinching victory over James Madison in the late-afternoon sunshine at Springs Brooks Stadium.

Coastal rallied from two runs down twice to tie the Dukes at 3-3 in the fourth, but James Madison built a 6-3 lead entering the ninth. Derek Bender had a sacrifice fly and Caden Bodine laced a two-run single to tie the score and force extra innings.

Jason Schiavone staked JMU to an 8-6 lead in the top of the 11th, but a bases-loaded hit batsman  and a sacrifice fly by Zach Beach tied the score.

JMU went up by two runs in the 13th, setting the stage for Born's heroics.

Sam Antonacci led off the Chants' 13th with a single and went to second on Blake Barthol's walk.  Graham Brown sacrificed the runners over, and Bodine followed with a lineup. Beach was intentionally walked, and Born sent the fans home happy by slamming a 3-2 pitch into the gap, clearing the bases.

Coastal Carolina, which had a 15-game winning streak snapped on Saturday, improved to 17-3 and 2-1 in the Sun Belt.
