Five players from South Carolina colleges and universities were selected third team Louisville Slugger Preseason All-America for 2009 by Collegiate Baseball newspaper. The players are Coastal Carolina first baseman David Anderson and outfielder Scott Woodward, College of Charleston pitcher Jesse Simpson and second baseman Brandon Sizemore and University of South Carolina pitcher Sam Dyson.
