WVU coach wants RPI adjustment

Baseball America reports West Virginia University coach Greg Van Zant has come up with proposal to tweak the Ratings Percentage Index in an effort to help cold-weather schools close the gap with warmer weather schools. Van Zant would like to see an "adjusted winning percentage" used, where a team be rewarded more for a road win than a home win.

The NCAA Division I Baseball Committee has been studying the proposal, and could present an analysis during the American Baseball Coaches Association convention in San Diego this weekend, Baseball America reports.

On the surface, this sounds fair. If this happens, would the warm weather schools be willing to give up some home games in order to boost their RPI? If so, would they play challenging road games, or just visit some of the teams who have been traditional early season home fodder?

What do you think?

I'll be curious to see how this proposal turns out. Van Zant hasn't been known to make many friends in coaching circles, if you catch my drift.
