Gamecocks, Cougars pegged for 2015
Baseball America has released an "Eight for Omaha" feature naming eight teams it believes could reach the College World Series in 2015. No state teams are on the list, but South Carolina is listed as one of the second eight and College of Charleston is on a list of nine teams included to create, more or less, a preseason top 25.

Limestone promotes Wiley
Assistant coach Chris Wiley has been promoted to head coach at Limestone College, replacing Chico Lombardo. Wiley has been an assistant for the Saints the past six seasons and becomes the third head coach in school history. The school announced in May that Lombardo's contract was not being renewed. Former major leaguer Gaylord Perry was the school's first head coach.

Gamecocks mull game vs. Tar Heels in Charlotte
Neil White of The State reports South Carolina and North Carolina are in talks about a possible midweek baseball game at Charlotte's downtown stadium in 2016.

Bulldogs hire Gershenfeld
The Citadel has announced that former Louisville player Aaron Gershelfeld as joined the baseball staff as a volunteer assistant coach. He fills a vacancy created when former player Justin Mackert decided to go to dental school.  Gershenfeld's coach at Louisville was former Citadel player Dan McDonnell.

A-Sun sets tournament sites
The Atlantic Sun Conference has set the sites for its championship tournaments. That includes Swanson Stadium in Fort Meyers Fla., for the baseball tournament.
