Clemson scored four runs in the seventh inning and held on the beat South Carolina, 5-2, at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Sunday to clinch a series win.

South Carolina held a 2-1 lead entering the second inning, but was shut down over the middle innings of the game by Tigers reliever Mat Clark.

Both teams missed opportunities to score -- Clemson loaded the bases with none out in the sixth , but failed to score because of some baserunning misadventures -- and the Gamecocks' failure to capitalize came back to cost them.

Control problems by relievers and sloppy defense contributed to Carolina's undoing, with James Parker's two-run double breaking a 2-2 tie.

Sam Weatherly, who struck out 11 in seven no-hit innings in Friday's series opener, received the Bob Bradley Award as the Clemson series MVP.  Andrew Eyster took the Tom Price Award as the series MVP for Carolina.

Briefly: Dillon Morton's two-run single capped a three-run ninth inning rally as Winthrop won in walk-off fashion ... USC Aiken, three outs away from being swept in a Peach Belt Conference road series, scored four runs in the ninth to snap a five-game losing streak ...  Cooper Weiss' RBI single in the eighth inning broke a tie game and Coastal Carolina held on to extend its winning streak to five games ... The Citadel got back-to-back shutouts for the first time since April 2013 to wrap up a sweep of St. Peter's ... John Dempsey drove in two runs and scored a third as Wofford wrapped up a series win against Merrimack ... Florence-Darlington Tech pitchers allowed seven hits over 14 innings in Sunday's two victories ... Dayton Brune had four hits and drove in four runs in Spartanburg Methodist's doubleheader split.
