SAC honors players

Outfielder Donovan Ford of Newberry was the only player from a South Carolina college named first-team all-South Atlantic Conference.

Catcher Carlos Hernandez of Anderson, and pitcher Aaron Diaz of Coker were second-team picks, wit second baseman Sion Barnette of Limestone and pitchers Hunter French and Matias Marchesini of Newberry third-team selections.

Ford was joined on the all-defense team by Coker's Hunter Poole at shortstop and Jaylen Mack at catcher.

Bruins, Rams play on

Bob Jones and Columbia International will continue their seasons on Monday in the National Christian College Athletic Association's South Regional on the CIU campus in Columbia.

The eight-team double-elimination event will be used to qualify one team to the NCCAA World Series in Kansas City later this month.

NCCAA to allow invitationals

The Greenville-based National Christian College Athletic Association has approved invitational status for its Division II baseball teams setting the stage for a possible championship event in the future. Bob Jones, Columbia International, North Greenville and Southern Wesleyan are members of the NCCAA, although the latter two also complete in NCAA Division II.
